What’s covered
- Fire theory — the fire triangle, and how fires start and spread
- Classes of fire, and choosing the right extinguisher for each
- Hands-on extinguisher use
- Engine, cabin, cockpit, electrical and ground fire scenarios
- Smoke management and protective breathing
- Prevention — and what to do once the fire is out
How often you need it
Fire training is renewed annually, alongside your other recurrent safety training. It runs in a single day, so it’s easily done in the same visit as your SEPT refresher.
Why it’s worth doing
- The confidence to act immediately, while a fire is still small
- Correct extinguisher choice — the wrong one can make things worse
- Protects the aircraft, and everyone in it
Beyond the cockpit
Like much of what we teach, these skills reach well beyond aviation. Learned correctly the first time and fully understood, they serve you at work, on the road and at home — wherever life takes you.
